Mommy Spotlight - January 2022

Mommy Spotlight - January 2022

Meet Sheila. Sheila was chosen for our very first Mommy Spotlight for many reasons. Sheila is always thinking of others, checking in on friends no matter what she has going on. She is known to share local businesses all the time on social media and supports small business as much as she can. She is always looking for opportunities for others to be able to promote their business (specifically for me, she found a local business and talked to them about me having a pop up). She is always organizing play dates to give the kiddos a fun activity and to give moms some friend/support time.
We had a few questions for Sheila. Here’s what she had to say:

Q:What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

A: This is such a tough question because there are so many reasons I love being a mom. If I had to narrow it down to one I would say I absolutely love and cherish about being a mom is the bond that Ella and I share. It’s truly like no other. She looks up to me and the love there is just so pure. I just love being her mommy so much and it makes my heart so happy!

Q:What is your favorite go-to snack for your little?

A: I’m extremely blessed that Ella is not a picky eater (and pray it stays that way). She really enjoys many foods. My go to snack as a mom is probably fruit like blueberries, strawberries or a banana. We also do yogurt too. When we’re on the go I like to carry these awesome organic snack bars from scout Organic’s. They have a lot of varieties and very easy to take on the go. Ella loves the chocolate or fruit flavored ones the most.

Q: Do you and your little have something you enjoy watching together?

A: Ella is all about Cocomelon right now. She likes to snuggle up in my lap in the mornings while she drinks her cup of milk. We watch Cocomelon for a little bit to start off the day. I love to hear her little giggles when one of the songs make her laugh.

Q:If you had one piece of advice for moms to be, what would it be?

A: Breathe mama… it’s all going to be alright. YOU are AMAZING! I know motherhood can be very overwhelming at times and you feel like your fighting a losing battle, but you’re not. People keep telling me the days are long, but the years are short, and now more than ever I truly understand why. Our babies grow up so fast. One day you’re bringing them home from the hospital and enduring many sleepless nights to (where Ella is about to be) the terrible 2s and potty training, to graduation and one day them starting a family of their own. I guess what I’m trying to say out of all of this is to enjoy each and every moment. Remember the hard times will pass so cherish and make the most of each opportunity you get with them. Dance in the rain, play in the snow, let them snuggle with you when they want, kiss their boo boos, just be present. They are only little once, so don’t blink, don’t miss it mama.

Q:Tell me about one local place you enjoy taking your little (zoo, movies, a specific indoor playground)

A: During the warmer weather Ella and I enjoy going to the zoo and Cleveland park. Last summer she was starting to get into it a little more. I think this year she will love it! Ella also LOVES aquariums, so we always visit them when we’re close to one.
During the colder weather we have been going to an indoor playground called
“Palmetto Proper” in Travelers Rest. Ella really enjoys it and I love to be able to watch her play and interact with her little friends!

Q:What is the hardest thing about being a mom?

A: Mom guilt and worrying about Ella. I think I try to compare myself to other moms and what they are doing with their kids. I know I shouldn’t, but I think we all do to an extent. I also worry about her so much. My mom told me that one day I would understand and now I do. As moms we literally worry about our kids all the time. It’s tough, but as moms we need to pray for our children daily. It’s the most important thing we can do for them.
